Fjölþjóðaljóð - Multinational poetry 2003

The entire end wall of the gallery was covert with 240 white ceramic tiles. Letters taken from various alphabets in the world were painted on the tiles, rhyming with black enamel, not unlike obsidian, interpreting the language of the earth. In Westfjords over 40 languages are spoken by people who are originated from different places and cultures on the planet but live now and work in this sparsely populated area of Iceland. The day after the opening I found more than half part of the tiles lying on the floor but they had felt down during night. The creative process took an unexpected turn that nothing was to be done about.Instead the work raised more questions than before and were shown in that state as a continuation of the process.
