Hótel Búðir 1992
Environmental work in Búðir at Snæfellsnes, west of Iceland. " At midnight last July 2nd and 3rd, artist Halldór Ásgeirsson, opened an exhibition on the pier in Búðir by lightning a fire in nine iron bowls and floating them out into the estuary. On the pier, nine balls of netting and one bobbin have been melted together with lumps of lava. A tall driftwood drum hangs from the gallows, a kind of a dugout canoe filled with wild flowers which the artist picked up by the edge of the lava field nearby. The works are the result of Halldór´s stay offered by Hótel Búðir, where the artist used materials from the surroundings of the place. " From a press release.
