Les Silences de la Fumée 2017

Performance - installation in the ruins of an old herring factory which has 1500 m2 of exhibition space. By melting lava stones together with the product of the factory, herring oil and meal I regenerated the lost properties of different materials, a smell that was sort of a combination of molten lava and melted herring. 24 linen cloths were draped in 3 column spaces which made it separate. Spectators entered the chambers by flipping the garments. I drew the molten lava pieces and then enlarged the drawings on canvas with acrylic paint. Because it was a French-Icelandic show, I attended the opening with a Napoleon hat on my head and 6 meters long cloak in the colors of the French and Icelandic flags added with herrings in a coat of arms.
