Rolling Snowball / 12 2019
Performance - installation inside an empty fish oil tank at the opening of the exhibition " A rolling snowball " in Djúpivogur, Iceland. Melting a lavastone from the Laki eruption 1783-84. The Laki eruption and its aftermath caused a drop in global temperatures, as 120 million tonnes of sulfur dioxide was spewed into the Northern Hemisphere. This caused crop failures in Europe and as well in North Africa and India. It is estimated that the Laki eruption had been the largest lava flow in the history of human kind on earth. All the materials I used inside the tank exist also in the universe of space. On the roof of the tank I installed visual flags mostly of birds from the area which is located in one of the east fjords of the island.
