Mouvement 2004
Performance in the Hyogo Canal in Kobe. The months before, at my studio in Kyoto, I had made 15 smoke drawings on cotton sheets, all in different colors on the scale from light to dark which I then put into a bag and brought with me to Kobe. To begin with, as I stood by the canal with the open bag by my side, an assistant arrived, took a black sheet out from the bag and put it over my body. Then he took one sheet after another until all the sheets were over me, the last one white. After that 14 people lined up side by side and the assistant placed the sheets one by one from my body over theirs. Finally, when there was no sheet on me, I went and collected all the sheets and folded them back in to the bag.
