Public work 2014

The work consist of circular plane and is ten square meters in diameter with a lava stone in the centre, two meters in height and width. The lava stone was obtained from a mine in Seyðishólar, a cooled volcanic crater nearby. Part of the lava stone was welded on site and converted into a glassy black enamel. Around the lava stone is a brick sidewalk made of 320 concrete bricks each 50x50x6cm in size and thickness. Drawings by the artist inspired by the glaze were painted on the surface of the slabs. The work reflects the cooled earth fires that surround the place, lava stone represents the volcano and circular painted sign on the bricks stand for the language of the earth. A conversation between nature and the creative power of man .
