Journey without goal 1976 - 77
November 1, 1976
"Halldór Ásgeirsson was also a traveller and he systematically turned his journeys into a creative source and transformed his memories into a visual world which appeared in his drawings, installations and performances, where he works with e.g. flags, colors, visual symbols, the melting lava, and water. After graduation from high school he went to Copenhagen, from where he continued southwards, first to Paris and then to Italy, to then turn east to Turkey and onward on land to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and all the way to Nepal. Along the way there was plenty to feed one´s imagination: exotic languages, vibrant colors, mountains, deserts and an endless amount of dust which yields its lustre to a handful of photographs which have survived to this day from the journey. This great trip, which started in Copenhagen in the autumn of 1976, was a journey without goal as well as any direct points of reference. " Æsa Sigurjónsdóttir art historian.
